Silver Run, Md (KM) Maryland State Police in Carroll County are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that resulted from a vehicle chase which began in Pennsylvania. .
Early Monday morning, troopers responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle on southbound Route 97 at Arters Mill Road. Officials at the Westminster Barrack say they were notified of the crash by police in Adams County.
A preliminary investigation reveals that the bike was traveling along Route 97 when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The operator identified as Denton Shively, 28, of Hampstead, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say an officer from Littlestown, Pennsylvania tried to stop the motorcycle, but the operator refused.. The officer followed the motorcycle into Maryland and came upon the crash scene. The officer then called for emergency medical services to respond, and provide emergency care to the motorcyclist until EMS personnel arrive.d
Maryland State Police CRASH also responded, and took over the investigation, which is continuing.
