But take precautions if they must go out.
Towson, Md (KM) While the Eastern Shore and areas east of Interstate 95 are expected to deal with the brunt of the powerful storm heading up the Atlantic coast, AAA Mid-Atlantic reminds residents that other parts of the state could be experiencing some flooding and high winds. Frederick County and some surrounding jurisdictions are under a flash flood watch until 11:00 PM on Tuesday.
Spokeswoman Ragina Ali with the auto club says it’s best not to go out during the storm. But if you must, turn around when you come upon a flooded roadway. “Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads for any reason. But sure to turn around, find another way to get to your destination, and pull over to a safe location if needed,” she says.
Ali also says the water may be deeper than it appears, ad may conceal down power lines or potholes. “We also advise motorists to seek higher ground. If their vehicle stalls or gets caught in rising waters, leave it immediately,” she says.
AAA also says watch out for hydroplaning as no vehicle is immune. One way is to turn off your car’s cruise control.
