Montgomery County Police say both are charged as adults.
Germantown, Md (KM) Two juveniles have been charged as adults with an armed carjacking on Tuesday night in Germantown. Narada Coleman of Washington DC, and Isaiah Summerville of Temple Hills, both 16, were arrested following a vehicle chase on Interstate 270.
Montgomery County Police say two youths tried to rob a motorist of his car at gunpoint at a gas station in the 18700 Liberty Mill Road on Tuesday An 18-year-old man had just finished pumping gas into his vehicle when he was approached by two suspects, one armed with a handgun. They demanded the victim’s car keys, and assaulted the victim. The two fled on foot. . The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene. .
Later, police report the teenagers robbed a 23-year-old man of his car a gunpoint in 18800 block of McFarlin Drive. He was sitting in his vehicle in front of a home when he was approached by two suspects, who threatened the victim, demanding his vehicle. The victim complied, and the suspects took the victim’s vehicle and drove away.
A short time later, a Gaithersburg Police Officer spotted the stolen car going at a high rate of speed along Clopper Road. Montgomery County Police pursued the vehicle along southbound I-270. It struck a guardrail at Democracy Boulevard after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The two occupants fled on foot. Officers apprehended Coleman and Summerville. A 32-caliber handgun was located on the driver’s side floor of the stolen vehicle.
Police say investigators reviewed the surveillance video from the gas station in Germantown, and determined that Coleman and Summerville had committed the attempted carjacking.
Both are charged with one count of armed carjacking, one count of attempted armed carjacking, and two counts of 1st-degree assault.
