Annapolis, Md (KM) There have been more than 450,000 COVID-19 vaccines administered in the state of Maryland thus far.  That’s according to the Governor’s Office which says that includes the more than 30,000 administered on Wednesday.

“While the spread of vaccinations continues to increase, and our  distribution network continues to expand, our supply from the federal government remains extremely limited,” says Governor Larry Hogan, in a statement.  “I ask Marylanders to remain patient with providers as we work with the Biden Administration to secure more doses for the state.”

The Governor’s Office says so far, the total has been 449,916 doses administered,   which includes 30,337 given out on Wednesday. The state’s seven-day average for daily doses is 22,135, a  64.2% increase over the last two weeks.

Maryland hospitals have administered  71.2% of the first doses received, and local health departments have given out 75.7% of the COVID-19 doses. Through a federal contract, CVS and Walgreens have administered 62.6% if the doses  received for the state’s nursing homes.

But the Governor’s Office says supplies are limited. More than 2-million Marylanders are eligible for the vaccine,   but the federal government is only providing the state with 10,000 first doses per day.
