Frederick County Restaurants Will Continue To Close At 10 PM

County Executive Gardner says COVID-19 hospitalizations are too high.

Frederick, Md (KM) Indoor dining restrictions for restaurants and bars will continue in Frederick County. County Executive Jan Gardner said hospitalizations from the COVID-19 virus continue to be high, and are 150% of the surge experienced in 2020. In order to protect public health and safety, Gardner says she’s issued an executive order which says the County will not adopt the Governor’s recent order that lifts the restrictions on restaurants and bars. She says restaurants and bars will continue to close at 10:00 PM.

“Because hospitalizations are still extremely high,  and because our new case rate reflected in positivity rates and in cases per 100,000 population are the statewide average, I want to maintain the limitation for two additional weeks and will reevaluate the situation at that time,” Gardner said in a statement.

Even though they were required to close their dining rooms at 10:00 PM, the Governor’s previous executive order allowed eateries to continue take out and delivery services

While Frederick County is beginning a trend downward in cases, Gardner says the county has  moved from a “an extremely rate of spread” to a “very high rate of spread.” She says the county has been trending worse than the state in health metrics since the end of November. .
