The application will be available online beginning March 1st, 2021
Frederick, MD (KB) On Monday, March 1st, the Community Foundation of Frederick County will begin accepting scholarship applications for the 2021 / 2022 academic school year.
President and CEO Betsy Day said the application is open to students pursuing a post-secondary education.
“That can be a student who is a graduating senior who the following year will be going to a two or four-year college, or it can be someone already in college or in some kind of post-secondary educational institution,” she explained. “Graduate programs and doctoral programs as well, and trade and technical schools.”
Day said each scholarship has different eligibility requirements.
“Some of our scholarships are dedicated, or restricted, for students who are studying in a certain major or going to a certain college or university,” she said. “Other scholarships are completely open and unrestricted and it’s just for anybody pursuing a post-secondary education.”
Day also said this year is a significant milestone for the scholarship program.
“It’s the sixth consecutive year for scholarships, the total, to exceed over $1 million dollars and this is quite an accomplishment, but it’s more of a testament to the generosity of our Frederick County residents who know the importance of investing in education,” she said.
Day recalled last year, some students were awarded over $15,000 dollars for their academic year.
Applications will be accepted through March 31st, 2021.
Day said applications will be reviewed through April, and the Community Foundation will notify students of their application status on or by June 1st, 2021.
