Frederick, Md. (DG) – A revengeful former police chief in Maryland accused of setting fires across multiple jurisdictions, including Frederick County, has been arrested.
David Crawford, 69-years-old, of Ellicott City was arrested on Wednesday for setting fire to homes, garages, and vehicles spanning a decade in Frederick, Montgomery, Howard, Charles, and Prince George’s Counties. His charges range from attempted murder to arson to malicious burning.
Crawford has been charged with first and second degree arson for a fire on April 3, 2018 in the 2300 block of Gapland Road in Jefferson. Firefighters were called to the home at around 3:40 a.m. The fire was along the entire base of a three-car attached garage. The victim and another adult were asleep in the home at the time of the fire.
Sources allege Crawford apparently targeted homes of police officials and family members with whom he had disagreements.
