He was convicted previously of child pornography charges in Montgomery County.
Baltimore, Md (KM) A Woodsboro man pleaded guilty on Tuesday in US District Court in Baltimore to possession of child pornography. The US Attorney’s Office says Jeffrey John White, 53, was in possession of 7,000 images of child pornography and more than 240 images of unique videos depicting child pornography.
Federal officials say White was using a file sharing network to access, distribute and possess child pornography between April 14th, 2020 to July, 2020. At that time, White was on supervised probation for a previous child pornography conviction in Montgomery County.
On three separate dates in April, 2020, prosecutors say, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI were able to establish 20 direct conversations with a device, which turned out to be White’s laptop and SD card, to view and download child pornography files. One was an hour and 39-second video of a prepubescent 12-year-olod victim displaying her genitals.
The Sheriff’s Office and the FBI served a search warrant at White’s home, and confiscated his laptop and SD card. White said he owned the laptop but didn’t know how to get into the encrypted file.
Federal investigators were able to decrypt the laptop and found 7,000 images and 240 videos of child pornography.
When he’s sentenced, he could receive between ten and 20 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. . No sentencing date has been scheduled.
