Frederick, Md (KM) Motorists are urged to be cautious when heading home on their evening commute as Frederick County could receive between one-half inch to two to four inches of rain Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has put the county under a flash flood watch through this evening. Heavy rains can mean a rapid rise in streams, creeks and other waterways, and that could strand motorists and close some county-maintained roads due to flooding or sinkholes. With additional rain forecast over the next few days, residents should remain vigilant as saturated ground can result in sinkholes, downed trees and other hazards.

Safely officials offer this advice…..”turn around, don’t drown.”
