Seven Frederick Keys Players Selected In 2021 MLB Draft

Frederick, Md (KM) Seven Frederick Keys players have been selected in this year’s MLB First Year Player Draft.

Alex Ulloa was the first player in Draft League history to hear his name called, being in the fourth round at 117th overall for the Houston Astros.

A second Key to hear his name   called was Mason Auer, who was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Lefty Ronan Kopp was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the final day of draft in the 12th round, being   the 372nd overall pick.

The fourth Keys player who was drafted was Luke Anderson, a right-handed pitcher who was picked up by the Oakland A’s, which used its 15th round selection.

Luis Guerrero was the fifth Key to hear his name called. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 17th round with a  496th overall pick.

Hector Nieves was snatched in the 19th round by the Houston Astros, and was 568th pick overall. ,

The last Key to hear his name called Kamron Fields. The right-handed pitcher was picked by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 20th round.

For many years, the Keys were a minor league team affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles. But last year, the O’s dropped the Keys as a minor league affiliate. The Keys joined with other minor league teams to form the MLB Draft League.
